The ET Matrix

The Emerging Technologies Matrix captures the overall interactions required for the effective incorporation of technologies throughout an educational organization. Candidates for inclusion in the database fall into one or more of the categories below. Disconnects between any parts can cause failure.

The matrix is organized into three main categories:
Process Management (how the key processes of learning can be supported by a candidate technology)
Organizational Capacity (the human resources that must be in place for the candidate technologies to work and be used properly)
Operational Capacity (the technical aspects, policies and practices required to allow the candidate technologies to function)

Sub levels of the matrix further focus these requirements so that districts and schools considering a particular technology can know what they’re getting into, and how to contact the people in places where these technologies are working.
